Some pictures taken in Parma with the Voigtlaender Ultron 1.7/35 Aspherical. Camera is Bessa-T. Film is Ferrania Solaris 200, scanned by local foto lab.
I have already posted one or two of these, but not the whole set.
The pictures were taken end of this winter:

I am of two hearts with this lens.
On one side, I love the speed, the great sharpness, and the control of aberrations (important with film).
On the other side, I miss that "thing", call it punch, 3D, or whatever.
Great working lens, but perhaps for a style that is not really mine.

I thinkt that you miss the "punch" here, because the edges of the objects that divide them from the bg are not as prominent as with your Zeiss lenses. It's smoother which can be also nice. What do you think?

Orio, I like this pictures very very much! The result is pictorial, really close to a painting, fascinating! Yes, maybe not your taste but mine, sure...Smile This is a very good lens, after zorki mania need to buy a Bessa and this lens.

Hard to say why is it so smooth (no sharpless, just smooth), my reference point is always fuji film and minolta scanner. In the labs there are very expensive softwares to reduce/enchanse everything. A lot time it produces colorful, but lumpy pics (especially grain reduction).

Anyway congrats, great result as always!

Oh, and the bokeh is on first pic is like my old rangefinder jupiters, cool!

yesterday I show to a photographer two versions of sharpening and ask him if grain was not too obvious
he ask me; 'why do you want to sharp those?. they are perfect without sharpening'
I answer him 'because I want to show them to some st*pid AF users' Embarassed

I review a 80's BBC book and the pics even not sharpened are beautiful

unfortunately, if I don't boost contrast and sharpening, I wrongly think pics will look unattractive

Thanks. Like I said, I find them sharp.
Really do you find them unsharp?
(don't think about the grain, only the lens).

I miss the "pop", not the sharpness.

This is my main problem with this new era. Everything is ready for use, ready for your brain. People are too lazy to absorbed in anything. My daugters new story-books are full of 3D graphics, full of colors etc. Very nice, really. My old ones looks funny, but you have to use your imagination. So we try to improvise tails...Smile

My problem is similar with the new 5D, too. Unbelieveable, but too strange for my eyes. Perfect for documentation, but the first thing add some noise, please degrade it, too much for me! Maybe need some time for my eyes to enjoy it.

That's why I enjoy this pics...(sorry, I have some problem with english)

No. To compare with my Distagon 35 pics, the difference is minimal, Distagon maybe sharper.

I think this lens is much sharper than my Distagon 2.8/35.
Of course film makes it hard to compare. Somebody should give me a digital RF please Laughing so I can make the test... Wink

It's a nice set. The lens look terrific sharp, great colors and contrast.
But the missing punch you mentioned, it seems to me that the "3D" is missing. It looks very good, but flat.
It's so unspectacular that it's spectactular Smile

excellent!

film is always good --

as poilu has mentioned before -- bokeh is more natural on film!

yes, because it interacts with grain.

Orio said "no punch", but I think it is there.
The lens is certainly sharp, you may miss some brilliance
from Zeiss glass. You are too spoiled. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I like these photos very much. Film made some nicety to the shots.

Ok, I'll try... but if you develop insanity and think about trading it for the Biogon 35, please let me know! Laughing
