It looks soft and not really much going for it to my eyes. I know the lighting wasn't it's best.

It might be a matter of which copy you have. Orio once has shown images taken with the Orion on his M9 and those were really good.

The Orion-15 is a fantastic lens for the money. Some have haze or fungus (one of mine had) and also the production year plays a role.

Light is matter, let we see it in bright light.

Laughing That depends what kind of money you are talking about, of course. However, I struggle to imagine a price that can make a 28mm f6 lens a value proposition Wink

It depends on what kind of photography you make.
If you do like I often do, going through the streets with the camera set to hyperfocal and the lens to f/8,
the focal lenght, sharpness and compact size of the Orion lens make a lot of sense:

01 whole image

100% crop of 01

The rest of the series:

Ohh, I am not saying that the lens is useless/makes no sense, just that "good value" is the last thing that springs to my mind when I think of it.

Orio's shots show what this lens can do.

I was put off by the F6 aperture, but as I would be using this lens mainly with smaller apertures and on a Zorki/FED it made no real difference.

Let me add some different examples of using this lens - some landsacpe, flower and closeup work.
The full set is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kds315/sets/72157628104462326/

For me this is an excellent lens, very small and lightweight and nearly free of any distortions thanks to the TOPOGON design.

Wow! Excellent little lens!
Remarkable is especially the low distortion and center performance.

Waiting for results in better light, Attila! This lens deserves it Wink
