Not much is known about this place, other than it was to be
an indoor/outdoor ice arena primarily for a local semi-pro
hockey team. Funding collapsed, and the project was abandoned
when only partially completed. It's now a magnet for taggers
and ATV riders, and the water is home to a huge snapping turtle.
In a way, I am reminded of the ruins of the Roman Coliseum
when looking upon the unfinished spectator stands.

I seriously doubt that.
The project is, as can be seen, located adjacent to an existing shopping
center. Said shopping center was to be a location for discount 'outlet'
stores, but it never materialized. Instead, the shops gave way to being
nothing more than generalized retail, and the largest space seems to be
a church or other faith-based organization.
Despite being located near to a major roadway, the location suffers
from being rather far removed from any significant population centers.
I suspect this is why the site is so frequently visited by taggers
and vandals, and why we had no trouble in accessing the site.
I'm sure the idea was cool at the time of inception, but the hard reality
is that it couldn't happen in such a loosely-populated area.
It resulted in great photographic fodder for us, but a huge loss
of money and effort for whomever spearheaded the project.
