I might be wrong, but that's what they appear to be, allowing use of 49mm filters and hoods.

That's exactly what they are. I used to use one when I owned a Yashicamat 124G.

I have an adaptor for Bay I to M49 but it overlaps the viewing lens a bit on the Rolleiflex/cord. Adapters to M46 also exist, maybe I should buy that one.

These probably make more sense than the older Bay 1 to Series V or VI adpters, as you can use modern, widely available filters.
