Inspired by Seymore's post, I remembered some experiments I tried some time ago.

Can you imagine how these shots were taken?

Don't know. You might have walked around it, or simply have moved your arm around it, or even have held a table light in your hand and moved it in front of the still camera.
The latter being possibly the more likely (because the frames do not show signs of uncontrolled motion blur, which would be difficult to avoid when moving the camera).

They look like Lissajous images, probably fixing the camera pointing upwards and making a hanging lamp turn in wide loops.

Even wilder: put a bulb lamp with a battery on the edge of the base disc of a turntable, with the camera placed above on a 90° photo-reproduction stand. Laughing Laughing

Or what about this way:

attaching a bulb lamp with battery to one of the propellers of a biplane, while the camera is attached to one of those rodeo simulators (mechanic bull) in front of it, providing the asynchronous movement! Laughing

Nice ideas, some weird ones. Wink

It is actually quite straightforward...

Don't think so, it's too regular to be hand held...

I know how you did those... it's a fad that occured here in just the last few years called camera tossing. Set for long exposure with a P&S and toss it in the air spinning. Just make sure to catch it or you may have just told that camera to snap it's last shot...

Yeah! You got it. "Camera Tossing" is a funny but risky business. Make sure that you can catch well... Laughing

It would still work as well if you held it on a cord or a leash.
