Hi! I'm still looking for a good 28 with a decent focus throw. I recently tried a couple of Rolleinar 28/2.8 and mechanically they're great, but borders are a mess even on an Super35 sensor and field curvature is very high. The HFT version is supposed to be much better, so I'd like to know if anyone of you ever used it and if you consider it any good.
Thanks for your advice!

IIRC the Rolleinar were a lower tier product (budget Rollei).

Does it need to be rollei mount? Because good lenses to fit those mounts tend to be quite a bit more expensive than similar quality glass with other mounts.

I got a Rolleinar 105mm f/2.8. Somehow it has slight curvature as well, not like my other 100 and 105's.

Thank you for your answers! It doesn't have to be in QBM, I'm just trying out this option too. The Rolleinar was attractive because of the 270° focus throw and the excellent mechanic, that's all. The mounts that would fit my needs are M42, OM, Nikon F, QBM and C/Y (Leitaxed).

The rolleinar 28/2,8 versión 1 is the mamiya sekor SX lens and the version 2 is the mamiya CS lens

The YUS 28/2.8 (C/Y) has a 180° focus throw.

A "close focus" Vivitar in the mount you want might be a good option.

If you mean fast and accurate focur then Nikkor 28/2 Ais is perfect in that manner. If long then Nikkor N.C. 28/2 which is Quite uncommon and quite specific in visual performance. Then there are cheaper f2.8 or f3.5 options.

As already mentioned the second version Rolleinar, the HFT one, is a copy of the Mamiya Sekor CS 28mm 2.8. That one is described here; http://herron.50megs.com/cs28mm.htm Does not sound like a much better option either. One of the gems in M-S CS catalog is the 35mm 2.8, Herron mentions that and I have one adapted on a A7RII. It is very good up to the edges.
I think you are better served with manual focus 28's from other brands like Olympus, Pentax, Nikon, Kiron.

A rough linking of Mamiya Sekor lenses and Rolleinar Voigtländer copies is here:

The 55/1,8 (6/5) os one of the best 50/55 mm lens ir allí the normal lenses.

The tokina 135/2,8 (Tl/Dtl) or the SX os another good lens.

There is an old test report of the Mamiya-Sekor ES 55mm 1.8 with an exceptional center sharpness measured. The 6 elements 5 groups design that is also used in the SX version. The sharpness fall off to the edges is quite high though, more suitable for APS-M4/3 sensors by that.

The Mamiya-Sekor CS 135mm 2.8 is the lightest one, 292gr, in that class but the CAs are a problem. Could be that I have a monday morning version. This is the 5 elements 4 groups design. The one you mention is a 4-4 design. You imply it is a Tokina design. I have not seen that mentioned so far.

The later DTL, the SX the CS and the ES 55/1,8, used the same formula. Only the newer had better coated.

At 5,6/8 the center rendering was 89/100.

Almost al the the TL/DTL line esa Tokina made.

I had the 28/2.8, 35/2,8, 105/2,8. 135/2.8, 135/3,5 and 200/3,5, and the TL/DTL are idéntical to the tokina's ones.

The 135/2,8 SX is the Rolleinar 2,8/135.

The TL 55mm 1.8 used 6 elements 4 groups and I see that for the DTL too. The SX and ES has one group less so 5/6 and I am not aware of a CS or E EF 55mm 1.8 ever produced nor do some Mamiya gurus. 50mm became the standard focal length after the SX range. Production then mainly by Osawa. http://mamiya-nc-m42.mflenses.com/cs_lenses.htm

The corners are blurred on open and up to f8 on Rolleinar 28/2,8.
