Hallo!
I got a package from eastern germany. Beside a Jena was this lens. This is my third Revuenon (28mm, 35mm, 50mm), all are produced in Japan for Revue (a affiliated company of Quelle, a mail-order business).

The Quality Level is different, this 35mm is good.
I was surprised about the sharpness and contrast.

Testpictures follow

regards Peter

congrats Peter, your list grow fast
the border are soft but you didn't tell the aperture used

Allways f 5,6, sorry, I forgot.

The borders are soft, I think too, but why, the crop is 1,5?
The right side seems softer, perhaps a decentrated lens, the mechanik is well used.

If I get a package of different lenses, 50% are damaged (arperture defect ore mechanic worse), this lens was for using, now on the limit.

I can´t find a list from revue-lenses and their history. I am searching for a good Flektogon or Meyer-Görlitz in the 35mm kategorie.

regards Peter

Because the lens is... well... hmm...
So if you find it soft at x1.5, imagine on full frame...

Best price/performance ratio in the moderate wide angle department, the following should all be around tthe 30-60 Euros range:

- Yashica ML
- Tamron

from 60 to 100
- perhaps Flektogon 2.8/35 if you can find a copy not too expensive.

If you can go to 100 Eur or higher (up to 150):
- FLektogon 2.4/35
- Distagon 2.8/35
- Nikkor 2/35

Indeed. I had two copies of this lens and I did not really like them.
That's why I was surprised when you wrote that you think this lens it good.

It is really cheap, so to test if you like to shoot with a 35mm, it's perfect.

But there are so many excellent 35mm lenses out there that you really should try to find a better one.

My recommendations:

Nikkor-O 2.0/35 or Leica Elmarit-R 2.8/35.

But these lenses will set you back a little, and since you shoot with Pentax, I am not sure if you can use them

In M42 these lenses are really recommendable (and very affordable):

MIR-1B 2.8/37 or Asahi Takumar 3.5/35.

I also have an M42 Soligor 2.8/35 which is much better than your Revuenon. I am thinking about selling it (because having the Nikkor and the Leica I will not use it often).
Do you want to buy it?

Or perhaps you should try to find a Pentax-A 35mm lens...

Thank You!

Now I understand the level of revuenon, this lens is to unsharp by the borders,
i have a Pentax M35/2,8, like new, a Test will follow.

So I get a feeling for lenses, I am a beginner, thank´s for helping me.

regards Peter

I own this lens myself and I was also surprised about his sharpness and contrast. I use it with Leica film.

Hi. Yes, your copy produces very soft corners. The recomendation about the elmarit is OK, the nikkor is OK too. In M42I have the 2,4 flektagon 35 mm.
It's really a good lensSharp and contrast. Nice performer. Best F/ 5,6, 8 and 11.
If you have a konica body, try the hexanon 35 2,8. It's very similar of the leica lens. It's OK. Good luck.

Hello Peter,

this lens was made by Mamiya. I have the original one Mamiya/Sekor 2,8/35.

This is a sharp lens with high contrast, maybe the bokeh is a little disappointing.

Your lens looks different to the auto-revuenon. The blades are the same, this corners are characteristic.
I will try the lens again, now, I want made a page on flick, to put all informations of lenses together.

schöne Grüsse Peter

The Mamiya's front lens seems to be not buried so deep behind the front of the lens as the Revuenons. I suspected from the time I got my first photos with this (Revuenon) lens, that part of the high contrast is explained by the good shading of the front part.

@Aykman: So you think/are sure this lens is Mamiya?

@padijei: Are the 28 and the 50 mm looking the same (I mean the barrel, the engravings, etc.) like the 35 mm? I often see the 28 and 50 mm Revuenon in the same style the 35mm and was tempted to buy them. (I am very happy with the 35 mm version.) When you are saying the 28 and 50 mm are far behind the 35 mm do you mean the same style lenses or some other Revuenon lens looking totally different? (They have another line where these focals appear but they look totally different, clearly another manufacturer.)

Sadly not only Japanese produced for Revue but Koreans too. Especially first years were pretty bad. This lens might be good for macro.
