Looks an excellent performer stopped down. I'd love see shots wide open.

Thanks for sharing.

Orio has already shown us that this is a TOP-lens! And your pics prove him right!
Excellent!

Zeiss contrast is great for those flower shots. Sharp, too.

I have tried that lens. It's a keeper. pbase.com/recbo/z35&page=all

Bob
Can you post a couple samples here?

I should mention the site has a anti-spam device. Your first image upload may have some trouble. It will only occur the first time. It will be fixed and you will have smooth sailing afterwards. Smile

Since this seems to be becoming a 1.4/35 Distagon thread, here's my offerings.
Two series, both of which made exclusively with the 1.4/35 and the 5D. One is B&W the other is colour.
Interesting for recent subscribers only I think, because old timers already saw these:

Here is an image from Zeiss Contax Distagon T* 35mm f1.4 on Sigma SD14, 1.7x sensor crop factor.

Link to original http://www.pbase.com/recbo/image/90811287/original

Original size shows the mystery of our favorite manual lenses, sharp but somehow more kind to people in portraits.

Great capture ! This lens is king of all lenses!

Orio's gallery is one that will make you want a CZ 35/1.4:

http://www.oriofoto.net/temp/pcxs1-2007/index.html

Try the slideshow. Lots of dof, great color, sharp for 3D realism, graceful bokeh to front and rear of focus.

I am linking that in my gallery for that lens at pbase.com/recbo/z35 and I will try to re-find another killer gallery or two that originally made me want to get one of this lens.

This lens is Orio's favorite I know. I lend from him this lens in last summer I was also shocked about it's quality.

A reviewer believes CZ Distagon 21/2.8 is even better, but I haven't used that. Sounds like a thorium lens. Zuiko's 55mm f1.2 was a thoriated lens that was terrible compared to their 50mm f1.2, but Canon FL 58mm f1.2 thoriated was as good as their FL 55mm f1.2 just more compact. In case of CZ 21/2.8, thoriated means a wide angle can be f2.8. Of course Zuiko had a 21/2, much smaller than CZ 21/2.8, maybe more elements, but don't know how Zuiko made f2 so small.

What sets the Distagon 2.8/21 apart from the other 20mm wides (aside from the price, that is), is the extraordinary sharpness wide open, and also the corner performance wide open - both perfect, and much above any other lens of that angle.
But the 2.8/21 is not perfect: it has a very discernible "S" shaped distortion, that makes architectural shooting a problem.

The Distagon 1.4/35 is one of the lenses with the most "3D effect" that I have. And some of the pictures in that link show that with very effective evidence.
