He's a good photographer, who happens to own a great lens.

Would you say that in the 90-150mm range, the CV125/2.5 is the best macro lens?

And, is it true that the CV125 changes its aperture (visibly) while focusing?

These are great shots, Klaus, thank you for publishing them here. Shooting jewelery is one of the most difficult tasks for a lens, because it requires a good close focusing ability, an absolute resistance to chromatic aberrations (those specular highlights are purple fringing magnets) and a flawless bokeh.

Cheers!

Abbazz

Yes indeed Sebastien! This is why I'm so in awe about these shots!

@Peter, no, aperture stays put when changing focus (actually it stays open
on my Nikon, but I checked and pressed the DOF button which closes ap. to
working ap. while changing focus from infinity to 1:1)

Very sharp. I wonder if a much softer lighting wouldn't have been better in the first image. The highlights seem so strong. Definitely doesn't seem to upset the lens though.

What fabulous examples of what this great lens will do in the hands of a pro. Thanks Klaus

I really liked the light myself.

I got myself some glass crystals in palm size from a window decoration and did a few experiments with lighting them up. Also shot some photos of diamond rings to try out lighting technique. Whew, it's difficult to light macros of diamond-shape objects. I can't add more than that the photographer here has done a great job with the light and lens.

I wish they were mine. I would trade them (the diamonds) for a 2.5/125 APO-Lanthar Laughing

I have seen a similar ring in a jewelry here ... For the price of the ring, you could have the three Apo Lanthars 90, 125 and 180, even with today's prices Wink ...

Cheers

Hi all,

I'm the guy who shot the photographs that Klaus** (kds315*) posted here so kindly. Found this thread yesterday, after a google search I did for fun (my name+surname).

I would like to thankyou all very very much for the kind words about my work. Really, I'm speechless: this is an unexpected, beautiful surprise. Klaus, you made me one of the best presents I ever received. Wink

THANK YOU

Ciao,

Emanuele

**Erik Lund at Nikongear.com was so kind to explain me that Klaus is a lens expert and a fan of the Voigt 125/2.5.
