Found those lenses sold after a US company was dissolved after the owner and inventor deceased.

This one is a rather special f1.1/90mm catoptric mirror lens (i.e. no glass involved, only mirrors).

I had written about that before here: http://forum.mflenses.com/lyman-alpha-f1-1-90mm-catoptric-lens-t47139,highlight,%2Blyman.html

Now some first results after proper (infinity reaching) conversion on my Panasonic GH4, images selected for the special bokeh it has...

Here about its sister lens, the LYMAN-ALPHA I 2.8/200mm:

Some wild effects going on there! This might explain why they don't make fast mirror lenses Smile

It was forced to be used on a sensor it was not designed for; this was made once for a 15mm amplification tube. Wink

Looks pretty trippy, in a good way.

Thanks for sharing your experiment!

And here about that rather unusual bokeh...

(last is when OOF, bit psychedelic...)

As someone mentioned above - trippy. There's a lot going on in the images, but I like it though.

Nice find, Klaus. I love the effect, it's like having a twisted brush to paint your images with...

Cheers!

Last one is favorite. Is this "busy" bokeh, or what? A lens not easily learned!

Klaus, the original thread lost images (likely due to the server crash a couple of years ago) any chance to see photos of the lenses themselves?

Groovy, man!
Far out.

I want these on my walls, the last one especially.

Its a good substitute for trying mushrooms again.

Well, it IS rather psychedelic indeed even looking through the EVF!
Just defocus a bit and that pops out... no shrooms needed Wink

Here focused and defocused in comparison:

That's not your average 'walkabout lens' by any stretch of the imagination. Shocked But it's a lens I'd have in my bag ready for that 'special moment' all day long. Cool

Now here what that lens was originally designed for, reflected UV photography. Target was a Oncostele Wildcat orchid hybrid.

This Lyman Alpha II f1.1/90mm does work well in UV seemingly (right side). It is A rather "unfriendly" comparision of its f1.1 to the UV Nikkor 105mm at f4.5 (left) [UV-Nikkor 105mm with Baader-U front filter, Lyman Alpha II with rear UG11+S8612 filter stack]

For reference, this is the normal visual light shot of it...
