The Elmarit 2.8/35 copy that I own has serial number 3234864, made in Germany.

Beautiful pics Orio from all points of view. The best 35mm lens.
Tell me please, whici the difference between 2 cams and 3 cams?
I'm interested if both can be fitted with a proper adapter on Canon.

I really don't know about the cams, except that they are relevant only for which Leica reflex to use. All R lenses are compatible with EOS cameras and adapter, regardless of cams.

Yes!!! That's why the lens has the name "Leitz" on it!
Fantastic quality.
Last year I was very close to buying this lens. I didn't, since I wasn't that much into mf lenses those days. Now, I regret it.

Maybe on March 31 on the Solm camera show...???

What is impressive is that enlargements from a wide angle picture look more resolved than many whole frame images taken with my tele lenses would.

No, just kidding!
I'm sure I won't buy a lot, since prices there are high.

You only sometimes find a good offer. It is more like walking around there, looking and doting on all those fantastic stuff (sometimes even drooling...)

BTW, this show is every March and every December. So, you will get another chance!

i have to find out about the good serial numbers for those models first. The Leica version history is a jungle.
Does anyone have the contact for the guy who knew about them.... what was his name... he's German... damn I can not remember the name. He adviced me good about the Elmarits.

How this is compared to Leica 35mm F2 Summicron. Summicorn goes around 200+ Euros, but heard a really good lens, although real soft wide open (to me, very much like Russian characteristics.. although its surprising.. as I think, still I think, Russians were copy of Zeiss... and Japanese started with reverse engineering of Leica lenses..).

I can not compare, because I don't have the Summicron.
Actually this is the only Leica lens that I have.
I have chosen the Elmarit for three reasons:
- Many opinions I read on the net said they prefer the Elmarit, including people who have both lenses
- I had the opportunity to get this Elmarit from Italy from a seller that I know and trust
- because it is the most recent version produced by Leica before the lens was discontinued. It is supposed to be the best version. On the contrary, the early version of this lens is regarded as the worst ever of all lenses produced by Leica.

Nowadays, only the Summicron is produced in the 35mm lenght.
Since I have to assume that Leitz has not discontinued a better lens in favor of a minor one, I also have to assume that the current Summicron is at least on par quality-wise with the late Elmarit.

I also have to admit that buying a lens that is discontinued was the fourth reason of the purchase. Somehow the manual lens syndrome has this symptom, that you tend to prefer discontinued lenses to lenses that are currently produced.
