Great samples, Attila.
All the Leitz lenses show a characteristic sharpness, this one is no exception.
My favs, 1, 2, 6 and 8th.
Thanks for sharing!.

I am not fond of them I did try around 10 different ones , this one is first what I would keep it.

Really!. It reminds me the sharpness of the Summarit 50mm 1.5!

What a compact lens! Beautiful samples, tell your wife she did a great job taking these! Laughing

Has a film-like quality to it.

I don't even want to ask what this lens costs. Wink

@2 is great. This lens looks like it would be fantastic for portraits, too. Especially wide open.

I'm reading conflicting info on this design. Is it a triplet, Tessar, or a Heliar?

Industar 22 is supposed to be a clone, which is a Tessar. The 3.5/50 on the old
Argus cams(Cintar) is a Cooke triplet.

PostPosted: Tue May 22, 2012 2:26 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

The statement that the Elmar is not a Tessar because it's a triplet derivation, is misleading: the Tessar, too, is a Cooke Triplet's derivation.
And the succession line Cooke's Triplet->Tessar->Elmar is pretty much consolidated in the photography history books.

Or a 28mm Industar 69? Surprised

I think so, but 28mm on half frame so rather ~40-50mm on 35mm plus hasle with converting, better to take J8.

I'll second the J8 recommendation, I have three and never parting with any of them, stunning lens both on film and NEX-3.

I do like this Elmar though, the rendering is very appealing to me.

Shame it's expensive.
