Very nice series, Attila.

Is this lens 2/85 copied from some Carl Zeiss design? I do not know
Russian lenses well.

I think yes. Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar RF lens copy. Very , very good ones, especially early ones. They are Zeiss quality without any doubt. I have two early ones , both perform very well.

Yes! It's carbon copy of one of the gems in the Contax catalogue, the Sonnar 2/85 of 1933 !

Good luck, almost unfindeable Sad
And, beware of the imitations: it is one of the most imitated lenses, ever. Soviets took the old Jupiters, replaced the front ring, voilà instant fake.
Experts believe a lot of the self-saying 2/85 Sonnars sold online are Jupiter fakes.

Orio did talk about Sonnar, early Jupiter-9 is available , not so rare.

Let me know what mount do you looking for Kiev/Contax I think rarer or Leica L39 I will help in hunting.

I think that unless someone is a collector, it does not make sense to buy an original Sonnar: for maybe 5% optical difference
(Jupiter aluminium maybe 95% performance of original Sonnar), you pay, easily, 5 to 10 times more (more 10 than 5).

I found one at eBay, this one Click here to see on Ebay
Is this OK?
Another one is currently offered by 100% reputation guy
in Ukraine, think it is US$110 + shipping $35 (kinda expensive).....

I can wait for a long time for this. My Leica M8 is broken, yet
I can use it with BESSAs.

I prefer L39 mount, since I want to use it on RF camera(s),
and easy to use on NEX5 too. Very Happy

Yes. With earlier serial number perhaps better. This one is one of the latest. I expect good results too. 8,5cm Red P is key Wink if you see some bubbles in glass that is real bonus.

When do you sleep, it must be after mid-night since Toronto is

I will bid that lens tomorrow morning.

1. Ranunculus @f5.6 with NEX5, CaptureOne

2. Boke, @f5.6, NEX5, C1

This flower is called "boke" in Japanese, not "bokeh" though meaning is the same. (I like the spelling of "boke" better.)

Look your adapter ,perhaps not right , my first m4/3 L39 adapter had bad design lens rare couldn't move enough deep into body to reach infinity. I did replace it to a better design on m4/3 and works right now. I have no experience on NEX.

I can manage "infinity focus" somehow, if I take off one spacer ring used
inside of the lens it can reach infinity focus. (Even I can focus infinity,
RF camera such as Leica M2 cannot focus infinity correctly, I know it.)

The problem is tight focusing ring, I guess there is old hardened helicoid
oil which makes rotating too heavy. I searched the internet, and found
disassemble of jupiter-9 (M42 version). But its internal is a bit different
than my RF L-mount jupiter-9, similar thou.

Someday I will de-grease this old oil and put new silicon helical oil
in order to get smoother movement of focus ring.
