So, are you happy with the lens?
Mine is exactly like Roerslett describes it - not really sharp, but very well resistant to flare. I shoot a test shot the other day against the sun (the sun within the frame), and it barely showed one ghost. I can get that performance only from my much more expensive Distagons.

For sharpness, however, I would use the Distagon or the Tamron.
