It took me a while to realise that the viewfinder is a constant no matter what the f stop was Smile

But its awesome , the camera reminds me of an old 60s open topped sports car, if you can put up with its shortcomings and concentrate on its strengths , it has so much more capability than what the numbers would indicate!

I guess what Im trying to say is the result is greater than the sum of its parts if that makes any sense?

I think I have seen samples of DR on M8, but the eyes will not mount I think, which kinda defeat it's purpose.

And finally one thing that make Orio ask "what is it?" Laughing

Now i wish I had gotten the silver M8

But I waited 3 months to find a good deal and the colour is irrelevant IMO Smile

a m8u for 2200 bucks with 500 actuations!

I actually prefer the black as its more discreet - I also try to only buy black lenses to minimize the attention drawn to the camera

Btw, if you ever fall on your head and want to sell the M8, do let me know Very Happy

I rather like the upside-down glasses . . . was it at f2? I have the same lens and think the oofe ( = "Out Of Focus Effect - I just can't accept accept the Japanese Word) wide open is a bit frantic sometimes. It calms down a bit at f2.8, as you'll no doubt have found already. And the contrast picks up.

I think you must now know that the 50 DR won't work on the M8 because part of the lens mount hits the camera's lens throat.

The chrome 7-element 50 Summicron is a nice lens but I find the focal length a bit less useful on the M8 than on a film camera. I use a 35mm Summaron as film-equivalent standard and like it very much. Much better behaved oofe Very Happy

Looks like you're enjoying the M8 - glad you found a nice one.

before Bokeh became the norm I always used OOF too.

I really got lucky with my camera, the vendor was convinced it was a m8 returned after a CLA , but its actually a M8U , I emailed Tech support with the serial number Smile Sapphire glass, better viewfinder and quiet shutter!

all for 2300 bucks, with a 1 year warranty and 3000 actuations, wheeeee

I really like it, but Im having a bit of a transitionary hiccup with some of the features. for High ISO it looks like using B=W would be perfect, but Im reluctant to spend a lot of coin on silver efex pro, but I just found out there is a demo!
