|
|
While browsing Contax galleries I found the work of this guy. He uses Contax stuff extensively (albeit not exclusively). He uses a lot the G2.
He has a very strong visual sense and a real creativity.
His photos don't look like those of someone else, he's very personal.
But what admire the most, is that he doesn't have to fake the force. He's really strong from the start, he sees and takes strong images, he doesn't need to make an image strong by faking it in photoshop.
This is his gallery:

And these are selected images that really hit me:

the road to Hollywood...

he's able to photograph people and make the viewer feel like if he always knew them...
http://www.photosight.ru/photos/1937884/?from_member
and to finish, the strangest family portrait that I ever saw !!!
Note that he does not indulge in any photographer's common affectation/tricks, such as to rely on DOF effect to get a photo home, or to oversaturate, let alone things like partial desaturation, he uses superwides now and then but he never overdoes them, and very rarely he uses superteles. He stays away from all the common gimmicks, yet he's able to take home photos that are strong and stay in the memory.
I really admire him and wish I had half of his visual talent and force. _________________ _

Excellent find.
I have been cruising his gallery for an hour now and it is truly remarkable.
The photos all well, most do have a signature that he seems to have developed.
The silky close focus bokeh shots are not here. Nor are contrived perspectives.
Most of the views are very natural and familiar and one can identify them as believable.
Of course he has some serendipity working for him as well.
like this light and perspective http://www.photosight.ru/photos/1730755/?from_member
And here some PP that is obvious but very imposing with the composure http://www.photosight.ru/photos/1661314/?from_member
The first you posted is my favorite for the obvious reasons. I'm happy you have met my future wife
But this one is the most interesting to me. It is like two shots in one.
If you use your hand and cover the child on the left.
It becomes very solemn but somehow also sensual. This mysterious body that could be young or old, contemplative and at rest or broken in sadness.
Then if you cover the character on the right side. You have just the pure joy of a child. Together and as the shot is whole it is for me a very contrasty scene in emotion as well as light.

Yes, he's full of these contrasts, it's obvious he seeks for them, and the good thing is, he manages to be original in his style and compositions at least 70-80% of the times. Which is not easy in today's photography! _________________ _

What does it mean? I don't understand.
Posing is not a fault, when it's creative and not just the reproposal of a stereotype - I think that picture is for photograph what Jean-Luc Godard is for cinema. Irony and parody through the contrast of extremes, mixing eterogeneous styles... The pride of a father who becomes a Napoleon with his foot on the toy world... It's a provocation, of course. I don't know how to explain better but if you have seen his movies of the period of Je Vous Salue Marie, Detective etc. you should understand what I mean.
| Quote: | | What about Cosmin? This guy doesn't make a pose... |
Cosmin makes a different genre.
I understand that you can not like this photographer, but I don't understand this thing of "the message". Can you tell me what message carry artworks like the Mona Lisa or the sewing dame by Vermeer or the Nympheas by Monet?
I see the "cute" paintings of Gauguin in his early stage of his painting career and I get the message "I need to pay my rent". Then I see the painting of the tahitian ghost riders on the beach, and I get the message "I don't give a damn about paying a rent anymore!"
That's as far as my art message reading can get _________________ _

Good morning Orio...
well --
KEY MESSAGE (KM) equals STORY..
KEY MESSAGE is common word used in advertising industry or MARKETING COMMUNICATION
and I agree that 'KM' does not really fit to this talk...
aarrghh Orio Vermeer? That's a DIFFERENT story!
MONA LISA ? - That's a message that's a MESSAGE with capital 'M'
GAUGIN? You are closer a bit, Orio
----------------------------
coming back to this picture:
http://www.photosight.ru/photos/1937884/?from_member
The title says:
молодой красивый Заиц снова свободен!
simple translation --
Young lovely 'Rabbit' is 'free' again ---
rabbit -- young man without any responsibility for his life
When he gets married, his life is going to be changed --- He usually has to give some things up etc..
Anyway reading and understanding 50 per cent comments approx.
I have to say that was just a fun sometimes a joke is followed by joke
I am laughing with them together -- some of them sent really nice comments ---
So this picture is more for fun than for any other purpose definitely is not strange and nothing special is not on this
