Halloween dance with the Fuji F10

I've yet to develop a roll I ran through the Olympus 35SP, but don't hold
out much hope for it not using a flash. These are with the Fuji F10 using
really grainy ISO 800 film, lol:

Dance was held at the Flying Monkey and my friend Valentine was guesting (the band played some of the
songs he wrote) but doesn't look like I'm going to get any decent shots of the band.

I used flash in some of these with obvious and varying success. SEP
conversions.

Yes, there are some ghosts on the pics Laughing Laughing

The results are better than I expected and high ISO b&w with a lot of grain has a special character. So pic 1 and the last one are really decent and my faves.

Wink

Rolf, thanks, too kind, it's a good thing I packed the little 6MP Fuji F10 or
I wouldn't have anything at all. In retrospect I would have been much
better off with the little Canon 120 or attached the flash to the Minolta
point and shoot. All my negatives are too dark and trying to beam them
up to see anything makes the noise/grain look like cottage cheese! Laughing Embarassed

Thanks again.

Excal, red eye is not a problem at a Halloween dance! Laughing

Some of the eyes look really otherworldly! Shocked (is that a correct word?)
They remind me of those horror B movies in black and white.
But I guess it fits perfectly in the evening's theme! Smile

Yes, this is what the F10 was giving me, and I found it topical and damn
fun. Wink Unfortunately, this only works once a year. Laughing

A retro look in all photos, which i like.

i am surprised by the amount of grain, especially at such "low" iso, what's the film and developer ?

Au contraire mon ami! I think this last shot of yours was the best of the lot, and definitely a keeper. But then I too am a musician so I'm partial to shots of the band. Cool Focus appears to be at the drum kit distance, but its still acceptable for the standup bass guy.

Thanks, guys, these shots are all with the Fuji F10, 6MP point and shoot, and
it probably went up to ISO 1600 to make these shots which brought on the
grain. Laughing I was being facetious about the 800 film, sorry. Embarassed

Most photos must have been taken with higher ISO than ISO800 I strongly believe.
I have a Fuji f31fd which is a successor to the F10 using the same Fuji 6MP Super CCD which was the standard for high ISO for any compact for quite a few years.
Had bought it as low light cam ( that time I was using a Konica-Minolta A2 bridge which is an amazing camera, but ISO400 is already stretching it ) and the small Fuji did not disappoint me.

here is shot at ISO800 without any noise reduction applied, taken on the very first day using it.

It also is the first photo of a set at my flickr stream called: 'low light with Fuji F31fd: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/sets/72157601059618173/with/929189012/

Most impressive, Kuuan! Love the action in this photo.

the F31fd is a very reliable camera

and it's just a small, ugly, unobstrusive brick Wink

sorry for highjacking with my pics.
me too I have been enjoying this camera a lot, that Fuji F series with this sensor was, for me still is a real winner.
There must be better compacts around by now, but I wouldn't know which one, I never have felt the need to upgrade.

No apology necessary, Kuuan, love seeing your work. I've been thinking
of upgrading to an F30, but they are not plentiful on the 'bay. I like the
fact this camera is so compact, feels like a solid chunk of metal, excellent
build quality. Hey, I'll hijack my own thread:

I like that it does this schizophrenic thing when I don't give it enough
time to focus:

excellent, super the last one.

I never have done that 'shizophrenic' thing Smile
maybe the F30/31 focus faster? I always thought that it is not much different to the F10. great battery life too

I'll have to check a review, but believe they did improve on focus and
shutter lag in the later models. Maybe not, too. Wink
