Thanks. Maybe I just got lucky with my lens copy (I have a black version).

No - looking at your flickr images I got to insist that's pure skill (the lens probably being a good sample is merely a bonus)!

Excellent shots - exceptionally well done!
Perhaps you're right... if that's wide open, your Domiron sample seems to be special as well. Mine doesn't seem to be nearly as sharp, even though it's a bit hard tell by how much, given the different image size.

There certainly is some truth to that but I'll openly admit that I'm not completely indifferent when it comes to sharpness.

Thank you! No, just a small LED light with barn doors. Pretty minimalistic setup. The hardest part is getting the angle of the golden cup (it's actually an ISCO cine projection lens, because why not? ) in the background right... _________________ ---

I don't think so. The (black) version of D.P. does appear to show excellent clarity wide-open. I'm not sure my (silver) sample is up on that level... That being said, we haven't compared any kind of similar sample-shot under similar conditions and at full size, so it's very hard to say. I also still consider myself a Domiron-beginner... 😅 Also, the black version is probably worth more as it seems to be quite rare.
I feel like a lot of the lenses capabilities for making special images depend on the right angle and particularly distance to the subject. You'll find some great samples for that in the thread, particularly by D.P. and Toby (kymarto).

Yes, indeed... that has prevented me from buying one for quite some time as well. The Meyer Oreston 50 mm f/1.8 or Pentacon is an excellent lens with a similar look (at least in many instances), slightly faster, easier to adapt and vastly cheaper, so it really is not easy justifying the price of the Domiron.

I've been thinking about doing a simple comparison between the Domiron and Oreston. Maybe the Oreston will suffice! |
