only Kodachrome 200. I had vowed previously to not use the lens

K200 is a good film, but the negatives are somewhat difficult
to scan (for me).
The negatives themselves are fantastic under a 10x loupe', with the edges
being clean, and the contrast purely impressive. I am poor at determining
color value from the negatives, but once scanned, I feel that the CV90
truly renders "real" colors I as I see them with the eyes.
I've ordered a brick of Provia, of course. 
Here are the characteristics that I see:
1. Sharp corner to corner, as evidenced by the scans.
2. Color rendition neither warm nor cool; rather the colors are
truly neutral, which is what I love - no need for post-processing colors.
3. Also, I must say that the K200 is a very good film for color, along
with 160 speed Kodacolor or Fuji film.
4. NO chromatic aberrations - none!
5. NO color fringing - none!
6. Mechanical build is a 9.5 out of 10.
7. Extremely smooth focus and aperture rings.
8. Bokeh about 7 out of 10, but I don't think this lens is built solely for bokeh.
9. Contrast is perfect.

Right on both counts, Orio. I have a feeling this lens will NOT be
coming off the camera very much.
It's going to take me a while to reduce the shock of receiving this.
I will try to use this to the best of my ability in my beloved rain forests,
but I'm also cognizant of the abilties of this lens for very close focusing,
and for portraiture.

Thank you Klaus. I too, am really impressed with the color rendition, which
is a combination of a good film and an "instant classic" lens.
In actuality, I only recently researched the apochromatic lenses, and I
am impressed by the ingenuity of the physicists and engineers who
created the configurations that provide such clarity to the total lens.
Of course, as mentioned in the material I read, there is
also a very tight tolerance regarding utilizing Apo lens surfaces and
glass bodies with the curved surfaces and integral relationships with
each other, into the overall schema of the lens. It's really fascinating,
and even the concept is fascinating.
This lens is a treasure to me.

Yes the 90/3.5 is fabulous, and it's done a great job of supressing my need/greed for an 85mm "portrait" lens for my Pentax K-7. Between this, the 125/2.5 and my FA 31mm f1.8 Limited, my K-mount prime lens lineup feels really complete.
And boy, what a joy the little lens is to handle, no??

That's what I was thinking too: the Leica screw mount is just a touch too bulky for a CRF camera as it's meant to be small and mobile: that's why I chose to have the smallest 35mm and 50mm to go with it rather than the big fast ones, and 75mm would be a handier lens to use compared to the bigger 90. |

Yes the 90/3.5 is fabulous, and it's done a great job of supressing my need/greed for an 85mm "portrait" lens for my Pentax K-7. Between this, the 125/2.5 and my FA 31mm f1.8 Limited, my K-mount prime lens lineup feels really complete.

Yeah, this lens IS a joy to handle! Compact, smooth as silk, and a nice
balance with the Revueflex 3003. I envy you both your 125/2.5 and the FA 30mm Limited. Wow!

I wonder why they stopped production? Perhaps a business move to make
the lenses more "rare"? Hard to tell what their motive is.
