This lens, which I do not have any experience with, is one of Zeiss legendary
lenses. So Mr. Morito says in his first book about Zeiss lenses, in
which he mentions Distagon 2,8/21, Planar 1,2/55, Planar 1,2/85, Distagpn
1,4/35, Planar 2/45, Sonnar 2,8.38, Biogon 2,8/21, Planar 2/135, S-Planar
4/100, Distagon 2/28, Tele-Apotessar 2,8/300 in this order.
Distagon 35mm is, in his description, a perfectionist mind lens. He describes
as if the lens had a living personality, anyway this lens performs quite good. see
D35/1.4 @f1.4
No more photos from that book, I may be violating bylaw already.
I forgot to add more: At the end of the books, he describes rather long all the lenses
he used in these books, and interestingly more articles added about photography, lens
hood, sharpness, Zeiss' colour, etc. etc. This part is very good reading IMHO.
Some photo intellect should translate them at least into english. Juts a hope. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.

Someone will have to come up with the money to buy the rights to the original pictures, not to mention to get the original pictures. Unless you're suggesting someone just do the text/translation portion of the book as a lulu.com book.
I dunno, something tells me that that's not going to sell, and the translator is just going to waste his time and effort _________________ Sony α7R, Pentax 67II, Kiev-60, Hasselblad 203FE, 903SWC, Graflex Norita 66, Mamiya M645 1000s, Burke & James 8x10, Graflex Pacemaker Speed Graphic (4x5 and 3x4), Century Graphic (2x3), R.B. Thanks much Koji.
I know the Distagon 1.4/35 inside and out, it's my most loved lens of all - I have two copies, one AE Germany the other MM Japan.
It delivers to me pictures that I feel no other lens can.
Although it has a bokeh that not everybody like, like this for example:
http://www.oriofoto.net/temp/BRIXELLUM_2008_2_CASTRUM/slides/BRIX08_B_40.html
it is incredibly "3D"
It separates figures from background in an unique way:
http://www.oriofoto.net/temp/BRIXELLUM_2008_3_PARADE/slides/BRIX08_C_40.html
Stopped down it's amazingly sharp:
http://www.oriofoto.net/temp/BRIXELLUM_2008_2_CASTRUM/slides/BRIX08_B_65.html
It really changes character depending on the aperture.
I could not live -photographically- without it, I guess. I use it on nearly all of my projects.
I was really interested in a comparison of impressions by a person who also has the new 2/35
Just curious about the feedback, how different the two lenses feel. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Orio,
In that case, you have to send one to me so that I can compare them. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.

Hopefully, but maybe this is only in Japan. Ebay prices are going to the sky at the moment - in my opinion. _________________
