I shot a roll thru the Chinon, mainly to check if my lightseal job held,
and here's a couple of pics:





Shot at f4, 1/60, no flash using overhead fluorescent light (worst light there is). There's a big store window behind and to her right. This is
scanned from the negative, then PS'ed. Kinda soft focus, and I'm thinking
that it might be from the lighting and shooting at f4. Film used was Kodak
200 Pro.

I really, really like the first shot Bill.
The fluo light curiously give the pictures a sort of "70s" feel - like fading colors on polaroids or prints.

The film still has that "magical touch" on portraits... there's nothing to do about it. Something not really easy to sculpt in words... but it's there.
And if you turn the first picture to black and white it is even more evident. It was the first thing that i did after I saw it.

I think it mostly lies in the light-to-shade transition. I think it's there.

Actually, I usually hate Sepia (as I find it rethoric, I mean not spontaneous), and 99,99% of B&W conversions I make are pure black white and grey, but in THIS particular case, Sepia worked very well.

edited to add:
BTW, should you like to see what I have done, I can post it - I made it as a rule now to never post my own postwork on somebody elses artwork if I dont' get the approval of the artist first.

Funny, my boss told me yesterday he met the Schwartzy at an art exhibition opening in LA. Very Happy

Don't really know what Schwartzy may have in common with arts though Razz Razz

I really think you have hit it with this shot Bill. There is something special to this picture. Her gaze pierces the screen. It is so intense.

Portfolio stuff, for me. Congratulations.

Well, I did get her permission to post these. She'd been in an argument
on the phone with her boyfriend, to explain the redness around the nose,
etc. BW erased all that which I think is great! Cool

This does not surprise me. See, when I feel something for a photograph, I am rarely wrong, it usually means it's a true one. I could feel immediately that there was depth to this photo. Real life below the surface.

I guess this is what makes it all worth, for me.
