I thought that the lens deserved a thread on its own in the ML section, so here it is.
No need to waste more time in words, here's a photo resized from the Paulownia set, then 100% crops unsharpened from it:

Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 4/135 - wide open

Really like the comp in that first picture! Once you get your focusing issues
straightened-out, these will be very nice indeed! Laughing Laughing

Wow, and nice bokeh wide open and slightly stopped-down, too! Shocked

Paulownia - one of my very favourite trees-scent and flower before the leaves and a beautiful bark. What a super lens, I must really look out for one and I am willing to bet I will not be the only one to do so! Thanks again Orio

It's nice to see when photographers give these "slower" lenses a chance...one certainly doesn't always need a 2.5/135 or some other very fast lens, especially when you can find the same or better quality in the slower speed lenses. NICE examples.

And you will be amazed to know that my copy has something like a milky haze spot on the front lens! Yet, you can see how clear is the image.

What really impresses me is the fact that the image is clean and sharp as the best of my lenses - see the first crop, in the top part (where the focus is), this is wide open - and yet, it maintains an "organic" holistic feel that makes it very pleasant to view. More than from the crops, this is perceivable from the whole 100% image, so maybe I will publish a couple of them.

I bought this lenses as one of my first manual lenses. I remember that at the time, I saw a list of old Zeiss lenses, in which this model was described like one of the very best overall to be ever produced by Zeiss. I have not been abole to find that URL again, unfortunately.

I find it very curious, not to say unique, that the flowers appear with all the fruits (dried) from the previous year still on the plant!

This is a fascinating lens, isn't it?
Do you have the alu version or the newer one?

I've got two:

And I like the newer one even better...

I have the aluminium version. I was not even aware of the existence of a newer version.

#7 for me. Cool

I think it's slightly easier to find either the alu or later black versions in Exakta mount than M42. I got a later black 4/135 in M42 from Attila a while back. The 3.5 zebra and last 3.5 MC are easier to find, with the 3.5 MC the easiest.
