Biogon. The name says it all. I never had a Biogon lens that was less than extraordinary.
Planars, Tessars, Sonnars, Distagons, all have many successful types and a few just "ok" types.
All Biogons that I could ever try are fantastic.

Biogon design was very successful from the beginning, and Zeiss took
many years to improve from Biogon 21/4.5 (for Contax RFs) to Biogon 21/2.8.
Many thought Zeiss was not idling during this long period.
This new Biogon 21mm is probably the best 21mm for 135 format camera,
its best is at its wide open hereafter sharpness is declining toward larger
F-stops. Its only weakness is "vignetting" I think. And hard to find the best
hood for this lens, I use a glassless 55mm filter ring for film cameras.
For Leica M8 you can use any lens shade for 28mm FL lens, but it is pretty
strong against flare.
I am not sure about that the lens has the colour shifting problem on M9,
but it is not a bad idea to get one. It does so on Sony NEX cameras,
but it is fixable by CornerFix free program.
I got the second one from KEH (in Atlanta Georgia USA) $400 without
a finder for this lens and ask the shop to convert it to M-mount. This was
more expensive than the price of the used lens, Dah! _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.
