Man, what a lens. I would have never sold it if I hadn't the Distagon.
Here it's either wide open or just f/4
Note: zero vignetting - and this is the 5D. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Yes, wide open.
That shot tells me this lens is a Distagon design more than any Kyocera engineer could confirm.
I have the Distagon 2.8/35 and it produces exactly the same imagery and the same "plasticity"
I could easily swap the two lenses and don't notice.
This is why I told you this was a great bargain, Distagon costs three times as much. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Hi Orio
I am impressed. Thanks for the photos and the lens.I am excited about the 3-D and was following the website you provided link to.
What is the conclusion? Is it from many factors i.e. lens, lighting and many others? Can you do "3-D for Dummies" summary?so that I can try it on the lens when I receive it.
Cheers

You're welcome, Nipon.
What is the conclusion? I don't have the technical knowledge to draw conclusions. I only know what my eyes can see. but I have a trained eye.
I believe that there is something that some lenses have and some don't. I agree with one of the observations made on the Fred Miranda forum: there are lenses that just "don't cut it" even in the most favourable lighting and subejcts conditions; and there are lenses that "make it" even when the conditions are barely there.
If you look no only at the balcony image, but also at the Gerania image, you will see that "at work" there too. Whatever it is, the Yashica lens has it plenty. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Yes, but not expensive. It can be easily found used around 60 Euros, sometimes less.
Some Yashica ML lenses (the wide angle ones in particular) are rumoured to be basically rebadged Contax Zeiss with cheaper materials, and after having seen with my eyes, I believe this is true.
Yashica ML 35mm and 28mm are affordable lenses that one should always monitor on Ebay, because they deliver pro quality image. _________________ Orio, Administrator
