Hello,
I would like to know if there were some good lenses available on ebay to do some macro shoothing.
Requested 150mm or more & sould be at least a 1:1 repropduction ratio !
I think about on the 200 mm f4 from canon. I suppose Nikkor made sush a lens too buth what about all the other manufacturers ?
Often seen on the bay are "macro lenses" but the max they offer is 1:2 ! |

think about it, at 1:1 and f=150mm you need 300mm between the optical center
of the lens and the sensor/film (not exactly with modern lens designs). That would be quite bulky,
so the manufacturers limit to 1:2 and sometimes offer a converter to reach 1:1. _________________ Klaus - Admin

In my experience long macro lens not provide same good quality than shorter ones. _________________ -------------------------------

There are few 150mm and + macro lenses, and all are superb...
Sigma 180mm is (what people say) best sigma lens.. And I think Nikon 200mm f4 micro also reaches to 1:1 magnification. Canon AF 200mm f3.5 is also reputed lens. _________________ -Ballu

Text from above link,
" It can be an excellent all-round telephoto lens for applications such as scenic, portraiture and moderately for sports and action photography. It can focus all the way down from infinity to macro 1:1 life size reproduction (at 0.5m closest distance) without the need of adding any attachment or extension ring; the extended working distance also permits the use of artificial illumination and/or provide a safe and comfortable working distance for shooting hazardous subject. Yes, it does 1:1 macro. I have this lens (AF 200 Macro).
It has very nice creamy Bokeh! I have not used it more
than 5 years. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.
