Amazingly smooth. No wonder Leica copied these cameras. Sorry for the hot spots (I was testing my light tent).

I had once a brand new looking one, I confirm it did work smooth indeed.

For the looks of it I think this camera shares some the controls with Zenit B and E, witch are surprisingly very smooth.
