I decided to test this camera/lens with a long expired cheapo Truprint C-41 colour film and soup it in Speedibrews Celer-Stellar.
Results are better than my prior attempts at C-41 in RO9 but still not as good as a proper pan film:

Less details and pretty boring gray vs good film, test camera for speed, light leaking good choice. _________________ -------------------------------

Yes, I agree, it's okay for testing a new camera but the results aren't great, I will just use this for testing cameras as I have plenty of long expired cheap C-41 to use up and it means I can save the good film for the good subjects. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

I dunno, I think you have a few diamonds here, really like 4, 6, and 12.
Wonder how #4 would do as a print. |

Cheers Bill, #4 was to test the coatings, I think it has pretty flare. I think #7 is my favourite. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

I dunno, I still think you have something unique here too.
#1, 3, 6 & 9 are something special along with the series really. There is definitely a unique rendering going on here opposed to regular true B&W film. I think this is definitely a useful process to achieve a 'Look'.
Keep up the great work Ian, I always enjoy your posts about your experiments! _________________

Great experiment with some good results. We've had Lomography, so I think the next "art" application is going to be "Ianography". |

That's funny Skida
I had some trouble with that film, my fixer wouldn't fix it so it sat in the fixer for a day and a half waiting for new fixer to arrive, then it had an hour in the new batch so amazed it came out at all.
In expectation it would be ruined I shot a roll of Kodak Colorplus 200 and dev'd it the same way, it fixed fine.
The Zenitar is a very sharp lens, must try it on my NEX soon.

You really have to give it another try with a good film!
It was the first lens I used for analog film. I used in on a Zenit ET. The combo had a really high fun factor.
