So I just opened up my package all the way from Japan, what happened to be my new $89 Yashica Camera.

It uses a good quality Sony ccd sensor, not to mention the super plastic lens, which I think it just a filter lens.

The Camera:

The Size comparison:

The Lens:

The Quality is set to 5m, super fine.
There is 12m, which is software enhanced sizing.

Looks nice - simple, small... so is there any shutter lag?
The sample pic isn't bad at all. Guess it isn't 100% Holgaized.

Yeah, so about that Shutter lag.
This was take in full daylight, of which I had to press the shutter button before the car came into view.

Notice the Wheel on the car, they don't go round and round.

My guess is that the shutter's a fairly simple design that builds up the picture in strips rather than exposing all at once, hence the elliptical wheels. Resembles the effect you get with horizontal focal plane shutters at higher speeds.

You got it Smile
The cameras sensor is exposing the image using scanlines (line-by-line) starting from the top.

So this will make for some interesting photos if I shake the camera around, in which I can make the world bend Smile

What kind of manual controls does it have? Looks like it could be fun.

Hold it out the window while driving...that should give you some fun images too Laughing

I like the sample pic of the truck...its grain resembles a color negative to me...

Well I hope this does well, it would be cool if a manufacturer made a slightly more robust camera like this with a real shutter.

How/where did you get this for $89, was it on sale?

Here are a few of my flickr faves, like this little camera:

Just got mine from a buddy in Japan. It's fun. If you do a few mods/hacks it does kinda emulate a cross-processed tiny holga like camera...

All three shots are very interesting, but this is really great! I did not think that this camera could have also boken.
Do you used the macro mode in this case?

Maxpiz, welcome to the forum! In the last shot, the rainy night scene, I'm
sure the camera went wide open aperture and slow shutter speed to give
the bokeh. I still haven't gotten one of those, but they are an interesting
camera.

I came across one of these on ebay today googled it and ended up here. It appears that someone has hacked theirs to take M42 lenses. Does anyone know how this works or have they done it?
