Yes Smile That's not unusual
Many ~24mm 2.8 and 3.5 lenses are giving great bokeh effects wide open on close focused objects.

Sorry for spamming around but here's the great Minolta 24/2.8 at min. focus distance for comparision:

And the narrow DoF is due to the close focussing distance.
