You guys just keep mixing up DOF separation with dimensionality/3D. Orio has pointed out many times that curvature of field and microcontrast play a big role in the 3D effect often seen in pictures taken with Zeiss lenses (esp. those of 50mm and shorter). I think this is a good, though extreme example:
