wide angle and infinity

Hello.

Have a Minolta SG 3,5/28. Very good without a light source into the photos. Nor clear wall. The image become soft, flat, not good coated.

I need a cheap (who doesn't? Very Happy ) wide angle to do some infinity photos with clear skies. And with contrast.

Any suggestion?

I'm falling more and more in love with my tamron 28/2.5 adaptall lens for my GF3. It has decent enough resolving power even wide open, contrast isnt too far behind and it handles flare nicely.
But I bet there are plenty of decent 28/24mm lenses out there.

I have an early 70s single coated Minolta 3.5/28 and never had any flare or contrast problems with it, it's one of the best 28mm lenses you can find imho, as good as the Hexanon 3.5/28 EE.

I like it too. But my shots with the W.A. are 90% landscape type. As you can see in your own photo, in the clear zones the lack of contrast is evident, something washed greys and bluesky, I guess.

I find similar constrast and color with my 70's SG.

Not too bad at all to me, but I hope another rendering of my 28 mm lens. Perhaps MD version......

Hi sonyrokkor !

I think you will be able to deal with these 'problems' by careful exposure and a little manipulation in processing. Especially, avoid over-exposure which is a real 'killer' for image quality. And maybe invest in a lens hood, too . . .

The Minolta 28mm lenses are as good as any others of the same specification, so it might be wise to check if yours is free from any internal misting (although I guess you've done that already!!!)

I use spot metering with my Nex 3. I decide before shot how my photo will be seen. Yes, overexposed the image is killing it. And over manipulation do that too, I guess. Not very friend with the post process. The less, the better for me. But like you said, not seems to be another way.

Sure I have to use another type of hood, more deep. Thanks.

I have a RMC Tokina 28mm f/2.8. They can be found cheap. I've seen them in Canon FD mount and M42. Mine is M42 and I am very happy with it!

If you can use M42, I recommend the super multi coated takumar lens 28/3.5 as its killer sharp, especially in the center,
and has excellent overalll contrast.

Except that is a non starter with a Canon 5D/5DII-mirror clash at infinity, unless you go into Live View Mode before focusing to infinity (with lens set at a closer distance).
