Pentax-M 4/50 Macro Wink Yesterday I unexpectedly visited small music festival... with only my old GX1S (6Mpx without stabilization), Pentax 4/50 and DA21 Lim. in my bag... All my longer and faster lenses happily sitting home on shelf.
And here is few of the better... sorry no dramatic captures with thin DOF Wink
All images with Macro "wide" open at f4. My favorite is #4
Full size samples of #2 and #3. Sharpness is really no concern with this lens.

#1

#2

#3

#4

#5

#6

Slow AF lens will not be my choice ever for concert photos Smile
Any fast lens is ok (af on manual)

Fast (but slow & poor AF) lens is not so good because if it lacks good manual focus then it's useless.

I have not used my Canon EF 80-200 2.8L lens for a quite long time.
It would be a good lens to shoot concert but I have used my other faster lenses at the moment. Very Happy
Other people have been just using AF lens when shooting concert.
Last concert where I took some photos (images in oversize gallery) there where many people shooting photos.
One older man who was hired to shoot the concert was lookin and saying nice camera.
He was very curious about the manual lenses I used.
He know the Nikon 105/1.8 and said it's very good.
After a short conversation he wanted to see photos from those manual lenses and liked a lot what he saw.

I think he also wants to buy a Canon too for manual lenses (also for Nikon manual lenses)
He has many of them since he has been shooting quite long in his life.
He had Nikon D700 (very good camera also)

Ha ha! Yes, the lens never ceases to amaze, no?

This reminds me of being in the forest with only 4/50 macro photographing wild flowers & plants, when I see beautiful deer down the hill through the trees, then me looking at lens feeling sort of silly "why did I not bring another too?", but I did capture some far away images, and tiny crops did amaze me for how sharp!

Nice looking concert photos!
