Hi, I've just recently started using old manual lenses with my NEX 6. I was looking at getting a Lens Turbo, but was unsure of which mount to get. I'm looking for the most versatile adapter, eg. something that can use a wider range of lenses with another adapter.
I saw a youtube video and the guy recommended the EOS (EF) to NEX Lens Turbo. He wrote in the description that you can use PK, M42, OM and more with the EOS adapter and another thin adapter. Has anyone had some experience trying this sort of setup?
I own a couple of PK mount lenses, so this seems like the way to go, but I do have a nice FD 50mm 1.4. Are the FD to NEX Lens Turbos as versatile as the EOS version?
Hope that all makes sense. Cheers. |

In theory FD-version should be more versatile.
I know you can get M42 to FD adapter from ebay. But which others exist, I don't know. |

Yeh that's what i thought, as the FD has the shortest FFD, but it seems that there are no adapters for PK->FD, or Nikon->FD as it's an older mount. I can only seem to find EF compatible adapters.
I think i would have to get a separate FD lens turbo in order to use my 50mm. I'm not too bothered as FD is only one mount and there are so many other lenses for different mounts and my lens will still work fine with a regular adapter.
Has anyone here tried doubling up adapters like I'm suggesting? Say PK->EOS->NEX? Are there issues with focusing to infinity with a setup like this? |

EOS would be a very good idea. First, it is highly versatile and second XXX-EOS-adapters are easily available and cheap.
So, if you want to use lenses with different mounts on your LensTurbo, go for the EOS-version.
If you are going to concentrate on one mount, go for that one. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

Of course there are F to FD mount adapters!
affordable ones:

and an ORIGINAL Canon made one:

...not that affordable at all...
Canon made these for a very short time, then they recognised, that they made lenses on their own too... haha _________________ T*homas

I wouldn'd suggest that: minor space differneces are always possible, using several adapters might add these differencens in a bad case....
I have one adapter for one use, I don't use ( it's even possible!) Hasselblad to Nikon to Canon FD to L39 to M-mount to NEX _________________ T*homas

With Glass: some adapters need a lens to maintain focus for example a FD to EOS adapter will need a lens to correct the Flange Focal distance, as does my M42 to Nikon. Some adapters don't need a lens for example Nikon F to FD.
Your dilemma is like mine but as I use mainly Minolta lenses so I bought an MD fittin. I can use Nikon and M42 lenses with further adapters. _________________ Hero in the 'messin-with-cameras-for-the-hell-of-it department'. Official. |

Thanks everyone for all the help. The PK mount is what i would use most, but I'd rather spend ~$200 once, and then only have to spend $10 if I felt like using other lenses and then have the option of using the lens turbo with (almost) all my lenses. I'll have to think and decide it's worth the risk going with the EOS turbo + adapters, or just go for a straight PK turbo. |
