Oh my goodness! My own thread and I only just thought of this. Old age is catching up. Embarassed

My oldest lens is not the 135mm Optar I mentioned in the OP, which dates (I think) to the 1950's.

It is instead my 610mm f6.0 Aero Ektar, which dates back to WWII.

Geez.

Compared to the really old lenses some people here own, mine is a baby!Embarassed Or better, it is a teenager. Mr. Green

My "oldest" lens is a CZJ Flektogon 65mm F2.8, a wide angle from 1959~1960 for the Pentacon Six . As you know, the lenses for P6 can be easily adapted to other cameras, like Exakta, Prakticas, etc.

Today the Flektogon 65mm F2.8 is not too common because it was short lived and was replaced soon by the Flektogon 50mm F4, a lens that became a legend in the 6x6 format. The Flektogon 50mm is indeed a fantastic lens, but it is heavier and slower than the Flektogon 65mm.

The Flektogon 65mm is perfectly usable with digital cameras. It is a little soft wide open, but from F5.6 up, it is pretty sharp. It suffers from focus shift so it is important to focus at the working aperture.

My oldest is probably the 50mm f/1.8 Serenar that came on my Canon IIIa rangefinder, circia 1950. I own two other lense for that camera, a 100/4 Serenar and a Kyoei Optical 135mm f/3.5 -- one of these may be older, but I don't know.

The oldest interchangeable lens I've ever owned was probably an uncoated LTM 50mm f/3.5 Elmar that was part of my kit some 20-odd years ago.

Either my Leitz Summitar 2/5cm or my Zeiss Biotar 2/58 EXA. I need to check, but I guess it's the Leitz.
