I reached for my MD 100mm f/4 macro as it did not look like yours but I have the MD Macro Rokkor which looks different (narrower focusing grip, writing on the face of the lens). I checked the table and it seems to be the same (380g/385 g versus 600 g for the 100 f/3.5...) but the MDII rather than MDIII. Good lens, I find. _________________ Antoine

My new acquisition and a real bargain. It's just an ordinary 135mm/3.5, but it was missing in my Fujinon collection. I love the color rendering, the sharpness and the compact size of the Fujinons.

Three very nice Minolta lenses Your MD 4/200 is probably the best 200mm MF lens from Minolta, and one of the best MF 4/200mm from all manufacturers.
The MD 4/100mm Macro is a reliable workhorse as well. I haven't yet compared it to the newer 2.8/100mm Macros with floating elements, but i certainly compares favorable to lenses such as the Pentax M42 4/100mm Macro, the Micro Nikkor 4/105mm or the Minolta MC 3.4/100mm Macro.
The MD 28-85mm was one of the Minolta lenses with an aspherical element. Its computation is used also in the Minolta AF 3.5-4.5/28-85mm. The latter has strong vignetting at 3.5/28mm, but it becomes a very ggod zoom when stopping down to f8 or f11. At these apertures, there's not much difference to a Sony Zeiss ZA 2.8/24-70mm, for example*.
Stephan
* the Minolta AF 4-4.5/28-135mm is clearly better than the Zeiss 2.8/24-70mm when stopped down:

Thanks! It's off season, so it'll take a while for all these (and others) to get properly "tested". The 28-85 did see some action on the weekend though and it is indeed a good zoom. _________________ my flickr stream |

I'd love to know if anybody tried anything similar (there were other 50mm versions, with different max aperture).
If you have any idea of the maker (it's Made in Japan), let me know yur best guess

Latest lens : Carl Zeiss C/Y Planar T* 50mm f:1.7.
It came with a Contax 137 MD Quartz, a Sigma zoom DL 75-300mm f:4-5.6, some rear and front caps, 2 lenses boxes, a camera bag, 3 cokin filters.
The whole for 80€.
The Contax 137 MD Quartz is fully working. Just some cleaning and the light seals to change.
I have to wait for a C/Y adapter to test the lens. _________________ Olivier - Moderator

Mitakon 20mm f/2 4.5X super macro in E-mount

Looks nice, but I have a problem believing that its range is 4x - 4.5x only, which is way to narrow
and really makes not much sense for a real-life use. If it was 2-4.5x it would get my thumbs up tho. _________________ Klaus - Admin
