Interesting that Pentax is in second place. I did not expect that.
The Enthusiasts here are not reflecting the popular market sales.
Early days I'm sure.
IMHO Pentax may have limited choice of MF lens makes but it works best with the most popular M42 one and also has some great MF K mount lenses to pick from. I use both my K10 and K100 with M42, K-M, and Tamron Adaptal with the K-M and K-A mount. No focus problems (Focus confirmation all lenses, no exposure problems both my cameras seem to meter MF lenses spot on using the stop down method (Auto if wanted with Tamron KA) SR with adjustments for all Manual lens FLs. Auto aperture with K-M mount manual lenses. The K mount was designed to be able to fit M42 scew lenses so no problems with fitting, infinity focus, security of mount.
No problem with crop factor I have 10mm lens which is wider than any I have ever owned in the past. I'm still very happy with crop factor I even find the K10D finder as good (But is smaller) than any I have used in the past. I own and use a Pentax ME Super which has one of the best viewfinders on an SLR, I can focus the K10D as quick.
No one camera is better than an another unless there is a specific task/job you want it to do or a certain make of lens you must have.
The important thing is how the camera handles for you. No time to play with or fight the camera when you want to take photos! _________________ Pentax K10D & K100D. I moved from Sony to Pentax. I had the Minolta 5D when it first came out (Changed from Canon D300) As my Minolta broke I had to have the Apha.
The Photo Society I belong to Swindon RPS has an active membership of over 200 this year. I would say 70% use DSLRs and 1 person owns a Sony one. Many do own Sony P & S. A few did own the Minolta 5D and 7D, 2 still have 7Ds I only know the one person and he says he isn't going to Sony when his 7D packs in.
Swindon is very good as we still have a few good photo shops that have no problem with you giving a camera a good try before you consider buying. Of course all club members do this. _________________ Pentax K10D & K100D. Many Tamron Adaptall SP lenses, Fujinon f4.5 400mm. A loved Lens Baby 2, Lubitel triplet +++ and many film cameras. Most of the time I'm using my Pentax DS - that's what I chose.
My Oly E-1 came last year...
My Sony R-1 (not a dslr though) 2.5 years ago.
In the meantime I also had (but sold again) Canon D30, Fuji S2, Pentax K100D, Pentax K10D, Oly E-510.
For the future I'll have to decide betwenn E-3 and K20D
- or change to Canon 5D? _________________ Paul

I mainly use an EOS 5D but am also using a 20D at the moment for my Pentax-K lenses (until the butchery starts). |
