Made by Kiron, also found in Panagor or other brand. I will rate it average.

Yes, wide open a bit on the soft side.

flares like a mofo, kinda cool when you need that effect!! very good build quality but the seller is asking too much IMO.

Maybe we should try it using hood. It's a big front glass attracting strayed light.

true, I'm sure that would help. its got quite a big thread so I didn't invest in a hood for its size.

No need to invest. Scissor cut black matted thick paper.

I never really though of doing a DIY job but it should work just fine, I don't use it too often but I bought mine for cheap and would only be able to sell it for cheap!! its the only 28mm I have though so maybe I should spend dome quality time with it;)

Most often seen as a Vivitar, made by Kiron. I like this lens a lot; maybe not a stellar performer, but the feel of it is just "wow". Smile

Often seen as a Panagor. Big, heavy, well built. Doesn't become acceptably sharp until f4, contrast is on the weak side and as mentioned, it flares a lot. The Minolta 3.5/28 is a far superior lens.
