Volna-3 renders like a typical Planar lens. It's sharp wide open, with quite even performance. Jupiter-9 renders nicer at f/2.8, but the Jupiter is quite "nervous" wide open, Volna less so. Both lenses are extremely prone to flare, so a deep hood would help a lot. For portraits, the Jupiter is my preferred lens due to its softer rendering and a certain "glow" wide open (really great in high-contrast lighting). Volna-3 is sharper stopped down a bit. And, I can't stress that enough, both lenses flare a healthy bit! _________________ List of lenses |

I made an cheap adapter for my P6 lenses (Volna3 and Zeiss Jena 80 & 180) out of the russian 20 mm extension tube and a defective Sigma lens with EF mount.
The adapter is far from perfect - but it holds the Zeiss 180/2.8
At the moment I do not use the Volna 3, but I like its tough russian build.
And my first test images were ok.

I love do-it-yourself methods and with some things it makes great sense, but when adapters are available at reasonable cost, I think it makes more sense to just purchase. I bought this P6 to Sony A-Mount adapter for $25.30, shipping included. It works just fine with my big Orestegor.

Yes, I sometimes make a DIY work not out of financial thinking. And not with a cost versus time calculation - some thinks I do very irrational _________________ Camera modification, repair and DIY - some links to look through: http://www.4photos.de/camera-diy/index-en.html
