Hello, forum. I have an Auito Vivitar T4 mount 200mm / 1:3.5 lens.
The serial number is 100031. I have been unable to determine who the maker might be. Anyone have an idea?
Thanks

Do you have some photos of it?...Many were made by Tokina, but a photo could verify this...

Looks Tokina or Komine to me too.

Hey, thanks to all for the comments. I have done some research on the T4/Tx and decided that the serial number system I have found on the net was applicable. I thouht I might have the rarest of the rare! Smile
Instead I "just" have a very capable lens Surprised
Thanks again. This forum is a treasure trove of knowledge and genial people.

This is my result taken with this lens. I think this is a great lens , price/performance ratio is unbeatable.

The serial number aside, that is definitely the Tokina-made early style automatic 3.5/200 . The same lens was made for Soligor and many other brands, including Ricoh and Mamiya.

You have a real curiosity, maybe one of the earliest Vivitar T4's.

Yes, it's the tokina's mamiya first TL/DTL version. I hear good things about it, like it was the best of the three mamiya 200.

In the same line I have the 2,8/135 old style (V1). And it's very good.

Can we watch pics taken with this lens?

Rino.

Oh. I forgot. The serial number 100.000 is the same that the tokinas mamiya pre 1970 have too.

Rino.

Well, hold on a second. I'm thinking that your lens is probably the 31st one made of that model, which makes it very early and at least somewhat collectible because of this.

I have a later Vivitar 200/3.5, s/n 28xxxxx with a dedicated mount. Mine is probably a bit more compact, hence no tripod collar. It would have been nice to have one, though.

I have the same lens, the early big one, though mine has more colors (I think) and serial # starts with 37

Looking at the differences, I'd agree with the above - yours is a very early sample, and after they made yours the marketing guys got at it to doll it up some, and they changed the serial number range.

I don't get along well with teles, but this one I've managed some decent shots with... so it must be a good one then Wink

Hi Relayer,

There are three versions of this lens in Soligor T4, and it looks like at least three in Vivitar T4, besides the version in Vivitar TX.

You have the smaller later version of the T4, and of course the much smaller version in TX.

I have the larger version in Sears fixed M42 and the smaller in Soligor T4.
