Whatever became of the exciting Series 1 Enlarger Lenses launched at Photokina 1978? Both the 50/2.5 (misreported as f2.Cool and 80/4 were reported to have variable optimisation for magnification ratios and rather exotic optical formulae for their time. Anyone ever seen one?

Never seen one, I have seen the VHE series which were good.

Several sources (in primary to secondary chronological order):

1. A pre-Photokina 1978 press release reports on the specifiction in some detail, and it concurs plausibly with other Series 1 developments.
2. The British Journal of Photography reports on them in 1979.
3. Wolf's Vivitar Guide of 1980 mentions them.
4. Vade Mecum mentions them.
