I'm playing with a borrowed Vivitar 28/2.5 these days. I may keep it as a landscape lens.

this was shot at f8.

two shots taken one after another, not originaly ment to be stitched together:

should I expect some other cheap mf 28 to perform significantly better at f8?[/url]

nice result IvanJ
I think differences between lens at F8 are small
only for wide open and full frame someone need better lens
here is a test who compare 28mm

No. But you could try RMC Tokina 28/2.8, it's usually less than 20€ on ebay and very sharp.

Poilu, thanks for the link!

Its nice that that review comments on the manual-focus feel of each lens, even if its an AF lens.

I would prefer such reviews to note the amount of focus travel - 30 degrees and 270 degrees can both be considered 'good' depending on whether you want speed or accuracy.

Most of the Kiron made Vivs are good performers at least. They are also typically well made. This seems to fall into the typical Kiron category of a good lens. But you can get the Kiron 28/2 for a reasonable price, and I think it is better than this

I've got one of these Vivs in M42-mount. I really like this lens.
(It is perhaps my second place of the 28mm lenses after the Oly.)
