Click here to see on Ebay
Did you hear about it? I think that it is quite soft wide open.

As on many rare lenses owners not publish any information , most of the reason because lens is not good. If lens is really make produce larger batch than this. I think this lens has more collector value than practical usage value.

I agree.

Silence does not accompany the good yield by a lens.

Once I read about that bazooka. A user of nikon said (letter of readers in PP) that although was not sharp to wide open , was but or less respectable closing the diaphragm. It was sufficient for me

But what pretty lens is!

Rino

I heard the same thing about the "pro" Vivitar fast 135mm. Supposedly the slower 135mm/2.3 Series 1 is better. The slower lens is still fast with the early non VMC lenses supposed to be closer to a f/2.0.

Just one more think , if best maker like CZ produce 135mm f1.8 , f2 that means no reason or impossible to make good one in this focal length. Vivitar launched only a few ones because nobody paid big bucks for a fast lens what is not sharp at wide open. If need to stop down , meaning less to buy fast one.

I bought a few Soligor, Vivitar "pro" fast lenses they are good ones , but not reach at all pro lenses from Carl Zeiss or other well known top makers quality.

Fastest 135mm what I meet personally and amazingly good that is 135mm f2 Carl Zeiss Contax lens Orio lend me one time when I did visit him. It is an awesome lens. I wish to have it one time. I am pretty satisfied with my Spiratone (Sigma) 135mm f1.8 lens. Good enough to use if need fast 135mm lens wide open, softness is truly acceptable.

Ofcourse i have watched this auction as i have actually one of these monsters.

A Pallas 135 1.5 But identical look and very very similar serial number.

Came in a nice lot with kilfitt gear, unlucky me the previous owner got this instead of that ultra fast and expensive 180mm.

It's a heavy monster and far from the best 135 out there. but i have expected it a little worse.

anyone interested in some pics of this?
let me do a little search.

Okay.

Took it out in the garden last week.
nothing special just some wide open examples.

and a crop:

no stopped down samples yet.

just curious:
My identical looking Pallas 135/1.5 has serial: 1967104
The above one on ebay: 19671001
another on ebay: 197004

anyone gets the numbering?

What kind of camera you used? Did you try it on Pentax?.
I was wondering that it could be much worse. Cool

Mr. Spiro had pretty good taste to pickup good budget lenses, Sigma rare made good ones.

Yesterday I saw a Javelin 135mm f/1.8 (T-Mount) at a camera show. The
diaphragm didn't work and it had a dented filter ring. It was huge.

1100$ for a lens with chipped glass is quite shameless to ask...

It's the first time I see samples from this lens. Thx for sharing.
Not that bad for a f/1.5 IMO, and interesting lens to have in a collection.

This would definitely not be one of my favorite lenses. To big, and to much glass Wink

I have a 135mm 1.8 and a f2, but I rarely use them because of size.
I use mostly f/3.5 lenses, and some f/2.8 Wink
