I just love this lens, it was a cloudy dull day but the lens still shines. Smile

Very nice result, shinny subject and shorter distance certainly help a lot.

Great coverage Ian. Again, so many cars from my younger days! That is an extremely desirable lens

Cheers guys, the Topcor 1.8/58 is fairly common and if you keep your eye out, they can be had for good prices. I paid about 30ukp for this one I think.

Looks very good indeed. Nice bokeh imho.

Bokeh is always smooth, even at f4 which is what a lot of those shots were.

Bokeh, colours, sharpness, those are all top of the line. Contrast is very good but benefits from a little tweak in photoshop.

I don't think there is a better 50-ish lens than this in the price bracket this can be had for, I think it's better than the Pancolar 1.8/50, Hexanon 1.7/50, Rokkor-PF 1.7/50 and all the others I've tried.

Well lucky for you digital users...but for a film user, it's too inconvenient to use a Topcon mount, adapters to use on Canon, Konica etc are rare and expensive (cost more than the lens).

Very nice shots. Nice bokeh and beautiful old cars.
