Hello everybody,

I've just test this lens by portrait. I don't know much about the quality of bokeh. Could anyone advise me for the bokeh of this lens, good or bad?

Thank you for sharing.

I've heard, in general, that Angenieux telephoto lenses all have nice bokeh...
The 200mm lens is also well known.

The bokeh of the Angenieux lens is exceptional together of the rendering of foreground which is extremely sharp without being "harsh". A really great lens who commands high prices for real reasons.

Then its "cheaper" Pentacon brother isn't so bad after all Wink

great result KhanX! superb models!
you are the master of nice flowers
maybe just a little to much sharpening, the hairs look like hay

Beautiful...er...lens !

The bokeh looks very good, mostly fades gently without too much of a sharp edge, and that only sometimes. There are also no distracting patterns.

So where do you get all these lovely girls ? Do you have a model agency ?

Bokeh, shmokeh, thats a beautiful model.

By the way the Bokeh is very nice too. The important thing is that its pleasing to the eye - soft, smooth and round is normally what you look for . But the test is this. If it looks good. .....Then it is!

BTW here is some bokeh from some tests I was conducting. Mine is OK but not quite as good as yours.

First a Nikkor 80-200 f4.5

Then an SMC Takumar 85mm f1.8

And again the SMC Takumar

Sorry - I did not quite nail the focus on the last image.

All shot on a Panasonic L1

I think one area in which your camera has an advantage is that the iris appears to be the "old fashioned" type that is more or less perfectly round. other things being equal this always gives smoother bokeh.

Try bokeh test before green leafs or grass from a few meters distance it will be beautiful creamy virtually with any lenses.

Thank you for sharing the photos. I've heard good things about Angenieux lenses, and now I know why. Your photos look very sharp with nice bokeh. The Pentacon lens looks good as well.

Even more than for bokeh, I am impressed by the vividness and depth of the focused parts.
The Pentacon's bokes is almost as good as the Angenieux's, but the focused parts look more flat to me.
I look mostly at the hair, in the Angenieux pictures the curls feel 3D, in the Pentacon picture, not as much.
