Today I won on this lens , I saw so many non-MC version and I wait a lot of time to get this one. Any experience ?

Today I let it go a Nikkor 50mm f1.2 and a Flektogon 20mm f2.8 MC. Next targeted lens also an Olympus f1.2 lens I kept Pentax 1.2.

it isn't this one?

I'll have to look up my Zuiko history. Mine's very good, the sample pics aren't it at its best. But if there's a MC I bet it's even better.

Yes, this one , but newest one MC labeled, I expect a very good quality lens.
I would like test many 85mm lenses, I am over on a couple of ones. Let see how perform compare with others.

Yes I looked it up, my other Zuikos are MC, this one isn't.

Here's some collected wisdom on it. Your 85 project is noble; I really like that focal length.

Thank you for link! I have/had many 85mm already and I would get many others too. I love this focal length and almost all maker produced finest lenses in this focal length.

I've been told it's the Olympus equivalent of the Nikon 105mm f2.5 - I meant to bid on the lens you won last week but was out!

No hurry. My plan right now is to wait until fall or maybe even the Holiday season to list my surplus. The summer is not a good time for getting a good profit. Just drop me a note when you get ready. I may put a list of lenses that will go up later for members to pick from now.

Congratulation on your new gear...

I've been eyeing on fast 85mm lens.
My possible candidates were;

1) Contax 85/1.4
2) Canon FD 85/1.2L or S.C.C. Aspherical version
3) Pentax SMC A 85/1.4 ... if I can find one...
4) Olympus 90 ... (although not 85mm)
5) Leica 85/1.4 ... (maybe a bit out of my price range...)

Which is the best bang for the money?
And, which is the best regardless of the price?

I don't have experience of any of them, without exact knowledge I prefer to try first Carl Zeiss Planar 85mm f1.4.

congrats Attila! let's see how it's work for you

Contax 1.4/85 is a must have lens. Here is a sample brought to you courtesy of his Royal Eminence Paco the great. Shot open and handheld maybe even focus is a bit off. Super colors, contrast, and 3d from this lens.

hughing, Look out for the Nikon 85mm f1.4 / f2 also - both are well-respected.

PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 9:35 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

If you have money for Contax don't look anything else in first round.

PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 11:07 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

the contax 85 1.4 is a exceptional lens
the only problem of all fast planar is sensor bloom in difficult light
in a studio this would never happen
I hope next generations of sensor will fix this issue
the contax 85 2.8 who is a sonnar doesn't have this issue and can be used in every challenging light

today shot 85 1.4 wide open @ 1.4

100% crop, you can feel the bloom problem
