today I try the contax 85 2.8 with 12mm extension
it is a very light combination and I think I got better result than last time with the tamron 90
it was very windy and I had to use 400 asa

Impressive results. Nature book quality. Actually I have seen many nature books with lot less good pictures than these.

Poilu, brilliant shots!!

I love the #2, the diffused background reinforces the dragonfly details.
Well done!.

Thanks Attila, Ron, Orio, Bill, Jes, Mike, Laurence

The makro-planar is much better but extension is a nice & light solution
Just add a extension and any lens become a macro

Not really, except mosquitoes
I find dragonflies only at this small pond behind the restaurant I have been today.
I had just 15min for my order to be ready.
I see some dragonfly but they were flying like crazy and didn't want to stay calm.
Then they see my Zeiss and came near me posing like star for 5 min Very Happy
It is first time a see a so big spider (10 cm) and I feel very lucky today.

Thanks Jes. It must be @ F4, 1/800s 100asa.

Thanks but I will have to wait at least 10 years to make a real shot.
Last year I was using flash, F11 & F16, tripod and could not get a shot.
Now I shot @F4 without flash, tripod and in wind
I have to thanks manual lenses for that, with AF I would never learn to see the focus

Gorgeous shots poilu! The colour of the dragonflies is truly beautiful. And the spider, wow - 10cm?? Shocked A macro shot of this fearsome creature is a very brave thing to do! Smile How far away from it were you?

I didn't measure her (scared) but Argiope Lobata female can have 6cm body
I stay about 70cm away but as she had just eat, I feel little better

I select autoWb on this one -> different colors
