I seem to notice great detail in the portrait, do you have 100% crops to show?
How do you rate this lens compared to 105/2.5 AI?

2.5/105mm has better quality but 0.7 F stop can be life saver in crappy lights. This lens quality like old Non-AI 2.5/105mm. 2.5/105mm AIS is a fantastic lens like a Carl Zeiss.
I guess I will publish hi-res images soon in gallery.

Lovely portrait.

looks a tad softer than the 2.5 but a great performer.

Yes, I have seen the large sizes, it looks indeed softer than my 105/2.5s
But not bad.
How cute the sleeping bat with the tooth out!! Very Happy

The 105/1.8 is a great lens and is sharper than the 2.5 up to 5.6. After that it's pretty even. I think the boke ( a very personal choice) is better from the 2.5 and the isolation from background cleaner (I think that's Orio's "air")
