The lens Arrived today and it is absolutely like new.
There are now signs of wear, the mount has no marks,no dust inside, I don't think the glass has ever even been cleaned.
The price of $425 was a steal.
Everything works smooth and I'm really excited about this one.
These guys are big Shocked It is the same size and barrel as the 1.4/85.
I guess I did not realize. The Contax version must also be big.
Here is a shot of the lens on the 5D note the triangle aperture (f5.6).
I don't know if the Contax version has trouble with 5D mirror clearance. This one has no trouble at all. Very Happy
Maybe some samples by tomorrow.

No trouble at all with mirror with the Contax version.
It is always a pleasure to see this lens, also in a different "suit".
It is my most preferred lens of all.
You made a great bargain !!

possible explanation:
- the guy haven't a clue about photography but liked to collect glass
- the guy discover the triblade, get scared and never use the lens
- the guy lost his sight from the malediction of triblade
- the guy try it once but it was a lemonade
etc...

I'd vote for "the guy wanted the god AUTOFOCUS" Twisted Evil

Laughing

Well maybe these quick shots will help rule out lemonade.
The chamomile shot maybe I missed the focus a bit.
All are near closest focus distance.
The African daisy shots are wide open and f5.6 plus a w/o crop.
I love this lens! Very Happy

Ready to try some "real world" shoots with it.
The triblade will pose some challenges at times no doubt about it.
5D WB at 5200 no sharpening some black point and levels and crop

Very nice acquisition, young Andrew! Really like the daisy pic! Interesting
pyramid bokeh that goes buttery-smooth when opened up.

It looks lik a good addition to my Rollei collection as I have a gap in 35mm range. So I guess it is a better choice if I wait and buy a 35/1.4 instead of buying a Contax 35/2.8 (I'm outbid right now Smile). By the way your price is very similar to Sigma's APS-C 35/1.4 which sounds very fair.

Welcome to the 1.4/35 club!!

Now that you are contaminated, you will never leave that lens anymore Laughing so much that you will feel the need to buy a spare (that is what happened to me Embarassed )

Yeah this is a winner. I love how bright it is. The focus is so smooth and just snaps in . Now I need a real shoot with it.
If I ever take a backup it will be a late Contax firshir Wink

Is there any explanation of the triblade diaphragm?

Is it the same glass as CZ 35/1.4, just a triblade diaphragm? I think the bokeh is different.

Incredible price. I think prices in general might be 40% off of six months ago. Silly American troubles!
