I'm liking this software, especially when processing my Canon G2 shots:

And here's with the G2 lens distortion profile applied, standard setting:

You can see the difference when you apply it, but the difference seems to
vanish soon after. Rolling Eyes

Pic was taken in Manual Mode at f2.2 (wide open is f2).

Nice shot Bill!.
As you say, the differences are difficult to spot...

Oh, I'm sure Bill's cat appreciates not being distorted anymore. Very Happy

Excellent shoot!

Thanks, Jes, 0rio, and Attila, for your kind comments. I should add that
this pic was taken with a #4 closeup lens with spot metering and macro
mode on. The closeup lens is a midrange Sunpak, I need to get some
quality B+W filters which would be a great improvement. Still, I'm surprised
at the performance of G-series Powershots, and the compromises they
made to the design were intelligent ones, except for that dark time they
removed RAW format, G7, I believe.

Bibble also has Noise Ninja built into the software, nice!

Thanks again,

Bill

Lovely shot of the cat whatever software you are using. I have been using Bibble for about a year now and find it the most user friendly of the bunch. This is mainly because of the amount of work that can be done (non-invasively) at the RAW level. Do check out sean puckett's plugins - they are excellent. The preview of Bibble 5 is very tantalizing.

Patrick, I got his plugin for Frames and Bibble 5 is supposed to be a free
upgrade when it arrives, Frames will be upgraded for free as well.

Thanks for your comments,

Bill

That's wonderful, Mike, thanks for sharing that, really. Wink Let us know
if you like it or not. I haven't tried it all that much with my film stuff, still
like LR for that, but will see. I imagine you opted for the Pro version. I
went for the Lite version, not as fattening, and I'm of course, not a Pro. Laughing
Also, I stupidly bought the standalone Noise Ninja Pro, and Bibble Pro has
a robust version of the program already...shee-yott.

Here's some test shots from a second all-black G2 (all shots this thread)
and got it for only $98, delivered:

All using Bibble RAW processing.

Those G2 shots are very nice.

My first digital camera (that I owned, I should say) was a Canon G1. I was impressed by the f/2 to f/2.5 zoom, before I bought it. After I bought it, I was pretty unimpressed by the levels of chroma noise! (The G1 used a 4 colour CMYG array; G2 and onwards went for Bayer RGGB)

Chris, agree about the color with the G1 (I have two that I will be selling
on ebay) as I just had a vicious time trying to get the colors to look realistic
in PS where the G2 seems dead-on right out of the box.

Thanks for your comments.

Mike, just curious to see if you like Bibble? These are all processed with
Bibble from my Canon G2's:

Bibble is nice, I used a lot when my main workstation was Ubuntu Linux. Changed to Lightroom when I got to my Mac though.

I have not worked with it much. I will try a few photos later on. I did notice that it is a bit bit faster than CS3.

Nice samples Bill, seems works very well!

Mattias, I like LR, too, great software.

Mike, try it some more, I think you will like it.

Thanks, Attila!

I have dropped CS3 completely for Bibble. I find that it does a much better job and is much faster than PS, mainly because it does so much at the RAW level. Having to mess around with jpg or even the space hogging TIFF is much less convenient. I also suspect that version 5.0 is going to be quite an upgrade, especially since he seems to have gathered a much larger team together. PS is and always has been designed mainly for the magazine publishing pros and shows it in its really rather crude approach to RAW processing. Embarassed Embarassed
