The seller of the Biometar has offered a straight across trade for the Zeiss
4/20, does this lens have more value than the Biometar 80/2.8? Thanks.

Bill

used lens price guide says Biomter in the £60-100 range, I would say the 4/20 is £100+ depending on condition, remember it is a fragile lens with exposed optics. I would want some money on top if I owned the flek

Yes if in good condition the Flek 20 is a higher value.
But check that the glasses have no scratch or marks.
A faint mark that could be OK in a tele, could be bad in a superwide.

Thanks, Orio! I'll ask for detailed pics of the glass elements before I make
a decision.

Thanks, Hacksaw!

Get him to shine a torch/flashlight through it too Bill as a check for cloudiness - if it is, you'll have a fairly drastic reduction in contrast in bright light.

The best F/ of the flekt are F/11 and F/16. I have a copy with so-so frontal elemnt borders and for this apertures it's ok.

Thanks, Bob and Estudleon for your advice! He's taking pics of it right now,
and I will post them here. I guess I have to ask myself if I will ever get
a 4/20 for only $88. Shocked It is in Exakta mount, zebra finish, just like
the Biometar.

Good advice. Some lens defects are only visible that way. In fact, you can even judge the amount of dust shining a torch through the lens.

With the Flek 4/20 the seller is sending this along, comes with extension
tube set, 2/58 Biotar, WL viewfinder, recently CLA'd and new shutter
curtains:

Doesn't mean I'll get the same excellent results Luis does, but I won't
have the equipment to blame! Laughing
